Cacau Santos

Cacau Santos is one of Brazil's most respected and versatile guitarists, with a career spanning over 25 years. Raised in a musical church environment, he began on cavaquinho at age four and later studied at the Centro de Criatividade Musical Pernambucano. His professional breakthrough came via Globo's Festival Canta Nordeste (1997–98).

Renowned for fusing regional Brazilian rhythms—frevo, maracatu, baião—with jazz, rock, gospel, and soul, Cacau has performed at major festivals like Montreux Jazz and Tim Festival, touring across Europe and the U.S. As a top-tier sideman, he's worked with Alceu Valença, Spok Frevo Orquestra, Naná Vasconcelos, Thalles Roberto, Eli Soares, and many others.

Also an award-winning arranger and producer, Cacau has released acclaimed solo albums including Sonhador (2004), Bahiambuco, and O Escolhido, a fusion tribute to his son. He is currently active with his Trio Brafic project, continues to tour with Eli Soares, and gives workshops throughout Brazil, focusing on groove, technique, and musical expression.

Cacau Santos stands out as a masterful guitarist whose deep musicality and cultural pride continue to inspire Brazil's instrumental and Christian music scenes.
